The thumper acts as a second distillation in line, re-vaporizing the spirit and lifting your proof in one pass, while the coiled worm condenser drops it back to liquid as it winds through cold water.

Ten gallons is the sweet spot for many hobby distillers, big enough to make a worthwhile run yet still easy to manage and heat. The thumper is also where flavor happens; drop in fruit or grain and the rising vapor carries those aromatics straight into your finished whiskey, rum or brandy.
